The Bottom Shelf Blessing

Devotional Reading: 1 Peter 5:5-7

In 1 Peter 5:5, God tells us “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble”. Pride is an outcome of the core belief that we have to do things ourselves. When we believe that everything depends on us, we will “puff” ourselves up to “rise” above God. Satan, because of pride, sought to rise above God and takeover God’s throne. Satan’s pride made him a rebel and his rebellion cause his “downfall”.

We must understand that God’s gifts are on the BOTTOM SHELF. In order for us to receive them, we must humble ourselves and bow down to His will. When we believe that God’s best for us is on the top shelf our pride will try to “rise up” and take what God has for us. God has already answered our prayers but we must know that “it is already done for us”. Our blessings re not of our own doing but what God has done for us through Jesus. Today, relax, release and receive. Live from the core belief that it has already been done for us and all is well. The Bottom Shelf is not always a bad place to be!
